The most questionable is perhaps Vitamin D3, which is obtained from lanolin, a substance produced by sheep’s wool. While Apple Jacks, and most breakfast cereal, appears to be vegan, there are a few ingredients that some vegans find a gray area and may prefer to avoid. Kellogg’s Apple Jacks contain wheat flour as a primary ingredient, therefore making them unsuitable for those following a gluten-free diet. Overall, sugar content aside, there are worse ways to start your morning than with a bowl of Apple Jacks. That being said, Apple Jacks are low in both fat and calories and contain a wealth of added vitamins and nutrients. In fact, a small serving contains 12% of an adult’s recommended daily amount of added sugars. While the original Apple Jacks are primarily made from whole grains, they do, unfortunately, contain a lot of added sugar.
